Rich Lady Boots

10.19.2011

The riding boot has always been the go-to casual look for rich and powerful aristocratic ladies around the world. This photo from Vanity Fair’s September 2008 edition features French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy on the cover wearing beautiful riding boots photographed by Annie Leibovitz. The 2004 photo of Kate Middleton wearing riding boots by Penelope Chilvers perfectly showcases the equestrian chic effect the boots have. I love how polished the ‘royal’ brunettes look in a simple white button up shirt and tan bottoms. You can easily copy this effortless look yourself by wearing a great pair of riding boots, slim jeans(I personally hate the color tan) white button up shirt and a good blow out. Kate and Carla have great hair, it’s their best accessory.

Luckily for the rest of us riding boots are being sold right now in stores everywhere from Target to Ralph Lauren (They make the best riding boots) you can snag a pair for yourself at any price range. A few things to keep in mind while picking out riding boots: make sure the leather around the calf is thick and hard, you don’t want soft slouchy leather on a riding boot. A dark chocolate leather is going to be the best option for a traditional riding boot look. Also keep in mind you don’t want the boot to be too country western looking in the toe or heel or too sloppy looking like a boot Peter Pan would wear.

I have found a few good options, see above. My personal favorite is the Isella calfskin riding boot by Ralph Lauren, I better start saving now…
