Today was the first beautiful day in Sydney in 2 weeks. With no more rain and blue skies, my man and I headed to Coogee for the day. Just down the road from popular hot spots like Bondi, Coogee has a much more relaxed vibe with less tourists, heaps of kids, and young men and women wearing skins getting their Sunday morning workouts in (basically everyone we saw today was extremely fit and and active). Things seem pretty simple in Coogee. The main strip is lined with at least 10 unpretentious cafes buzzing with people drinking flat whites and catching up with mates. It was a very different vibe compared to going for breakfast in Paddo or Surry Hills. No one was really trying to impress anyone. Everyone was just happy to be in the fresh air enjoying the beautiful day.
First stop on our adventure was Coogee Cafe for a delicious brunch. The breakfast bruschetta (pictured above) was divine. We worked off breakfast by walking to the top of the heads to look out over the ocean, check out the “baths” (Paul had to explain that this was a collection of water where you can go swimming), and enjoy the crisp winter air. We were lucky enough to catch a young bride and her new husband taking photos over looking the ocean. So sweet. We then strolled to the boardwalk to partake in some people watching and cuddle on a park bench. A perfect Sunday in the oh so cozy suburb of Coogee.
