Last weekend, I went to Art in the Streets at the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA in downtown L.A. the exhibit will be on from April 17 – August 8, 2011 and is a must see! (Ash you must go when you are in L.A. next month!)
After watching the documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop I started noticing graffiti by different artists on random buildings while driving around Los Angeles. It was so exciting noticing an old Obey poster driving down Sunset Blvd or the relatively new Banksy by the gas station down on Robertson for the first time.
My newly found appreciation for street art grew even more this weekend after seeing Art in the Streets. The exhibit features well know artists like Shepard Fairey, Banksy, Keith Haring and Swoon. Even if you don’t care much for street art you should still come and take a look. The exhibit is visual stimulating in a colorful high-energy space that feels less like a museum and more like a fun gallery opening party. Below are a few photos I took on my iPhone (my new camera arrives next week! Can’t wait)
